Manitowoc, a leading brand in commercial ice makers, has launched its next generation of ice machines, the Indigo® NXT (NEXT) which offers a whole new level of simplicity, sanitation, energy efficiency and reliability, never before seen in modular ice machines.
Indigo NXT simplifies the process of owning and operating an ice machine thanks to the introduction of a 2.8-inch icon based easyTouch® display which gives one touch access to asset information, service menus, reminders and alerts, thereby taking the guess work out of owning and operating an ice machine. Owner-operators will be made aware of the operating status of their ice machine thanks to full color status indicators on the display, whilst a new startup wizard will help to simplify installation and set-up. By being able to program the ice machine to close down during peak energy times, operators will also benefit from lower running costs, and this can be achieved as simply as setting an alarm on a mobile phone. Other features include; auto detection of key accessories, water usage settings, a one touch icon to locate a service provider and a display lock feature to prevent unwanted tampering.
Next level sanitation
Indigo NXT also provides the next level in sanitation due to a hinged front door that swings open and which does not need to be removed to access the foodzone. A front facing evaporator allows foodzone access without removing the top or side panels. The inside can be easily wiped clean thanks to smooth rounded corners, whilst all the food-zone parts that require sanitising can be removed without tools. Indigo NXT offers the industry’s only fully integrated advanced sanitation solution through the optional built-in LuminIce II device, which boasts a status icon in the display to provide peace of mind that the system is working correctly. By keeping the food-zone cleaner for longer, LuminIce® II, reduces the need for cleaning, saving you time and money on cleaning costs over the lifetime of the machine. Visual and audible indicators quickly alert the operator to when servicing is required.
Indigo NXT models are among the most efficient cuber ice machines on the market today, providing improved energy efficiency of up to 27% and lower water consumption of up to 21%. At the same time daily ice production has been increased by up to 65%. Using R-410A or R290 refrigerants, Indigo NXT ice machines have also been designed to meet the EU refrigerant standards, effective from January 2020.
All Indigo NXT models are certified by the AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute) to ASHRAE standards, to assure customers that the Indigo NXT ice machines perform according to published specifications.
More than a half a million hours of testing went into the development of the next generation ice machine to give customers the assurance of even greater reliability. Key component parts were also rigorously tested through HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) to help ensure Indigo NXT ice machines will provide years of outstanding service.
Easy access
To complement the Indigo NXT Ice Machine range, Manitowoc has also introduced a new range of Ice Bins. The new D-Series bins have side grips moulded into the bin door to allow for easy access to the ice. No matter where the operator stands, at the front, right or left side of the bin, they can easily open the bin door with one hand. The door is also self-latching so it stays in the open position when accessing the ice.
Wrapped in DuraTech™, a unique aluminum alloy that combines the aesthetic appeal of stainless steel with a higher corrosion resistance metal, each D-Bin features an artic blue polyurethane liner with foam insulation, along with a foamed door to reduce sweating and to maintain the ice longer in the bin. Angled at 53 degrees, the ergo dynamic door allows for easier access to the ice in the bin, especially when scooping from the bottom.
Manitowoc ice storage bins are also certified by the AHRI, a non-partisan independent trade group that validates the bin volume capacity is measured correctly for calculating the amount of ice that can be stored inside the bin.
The new D-Bin features a built-in scoop holder that keeps the ice scoop handle above the ice line and free from contamination. For areas, where the ice scoop must be stored outside the bin, Manitowoc has developed an optional external scoop holder. The external scoop holder can be configured in seven different ways for maximum installation flexibility.
Each D-Bin is shipped with a new ergonomic NSF approved sanitary ice scoop which features a knuckle and thumb guard design to help prevent hand contact with the ice.
