In memoriam: Theodore “Ted” Farrand FCSI, FMP

It is with profound sadness that Cini-Little International, Inc. announces the passing of Theodore "Ted" Farrand FCSI, FMP on Thursday April 17, 2025

Ted was a distinguished leader in foodservice consulting who dedicated 38 years of his professional life to Cini-Little and helped shape modern foodservice management practices across the industry. 

Ted’s career in foodservice began with operational roles at Stouffer’s Restaurants and Magic Pan, Inc., where he built a strong foundation in restaurant operations. In 1987, he joined Cini-Little, beginning a 38-year journey that would establish him as one of the industry’s most respected consultants. 

During his tenure with Cini-Little, Ted held various leadership positions, including serving as President and Director of Management Advisory Services (MAS) prior to his retirement. He became widely recognized as the industry’s foremost expert in operator selection, completing hundreds of such projects for major corporations throughout the United States. Throughout his career, Ted provided comprehensive operational reviews, market research, master planning, and operator selection assistance for more than 500 clients across diverse sectors including college and university, corporate, government, healthcare, gaming, convention center, and hospitality industries.

His thoughtful approach to complex challenges and genuine interest in helping others succeed made him not just a respected colleague, but a trusted friend to clients and team members alike. In 2016, Ted received the prestigious SHFM Bob Pacifico Above and Beyond Award, contributions to the foodservice industry. His unique ability to understand both operational complexity and human dynamics made him an invaluable advisor to clients and a natural mentor to colleagues. recognizing his significant 

Ted was an active member of Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) and the Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM). He maintained the National Restaurant Association’s Food Management Professional (FMP) designation throughout his career. A proud Penn State University graduate from the Foodservice and Housing Administration program, Ted also served on the Board of Directors for the Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society. Society for Hospitality & , contributing his expertise to advance professional standards within the industry. He 

Throughout his distinguished career, Ted was frequently invited to speak at industry events and contributed valuable insights through articles in professional publications including Food Management Magazine, The Consultant, and Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine. 

Ted will be remembered for his extraordinary ability to balance technical excellence with genuine personal connection – always finding time to listen, guide, and support those around him while delivering exceptional results for clients. His legacy of integrity, wisdom, and commitment to helping others succeed continues to shape Cini-Little’s approach to consulting.
