Having just celebrated a record-breaking year, Cedabond, the largest buying consortium of food service equipment in the UK, paid a special thanks to its members this week in the annual Cedabond Awards. The prestigious event, held on Thursday April 23rd at the Heythrop Park Resort, saw five Cedabond members receive special recognition for their contribution to the consortium’s continued success.

The Airedale Group scooped the award for Most Improved Member for 2014, having broken every record in the Cedabond book with regard to spend with the company’s suppliers.

Hobart Warewash wiped up the award for Most Improved Supplier of Heavy Equipment. The company was recognised for its dedication, both in terms of time and staff, to working with Cedabond members, not only growing turnover but also encouraging other distributors to join the Cedabond fold.

Elia International was delighted to collect the newly introduced award for Most Improved Supplier of Light Equipment, a category that has become a major part of the Cedabond offering. The winning company was rewarded for its hard work  developing its relationship with Cedabond, which has seen Elia benefit from substantial growth in turnover in 2014.

The fourth award of the evening was presented in the name of former Cedabond chairman and tireless charity supporter Bob McNab. Normally presented to an individual, this year it was presented to a whole company, Whitco, whose staff have been determined campaigners for various causes over the course of the past 12 months.

Finally, the Cedabond Special award for Services to the Catering Equipment Industry was awarded to John Derrick Spiers, Managing Director of JDS Catering Equipment Ltd for the past 25 years. Passionate about the catering equipment industry, Spiers started out as a Sales Engineer specialising in dishwasher systems before starting his own catering equipment company run from a small unit near an airport. The business took off and became an industry force, trading with companies across the business sector from major blue chip companies to single operators. All JDS customers benefit from the same fantastic service, something that Cedabond is proud to acknowledge with this coveted award.

Chairman and executive director of Cedabond, Phil Martin (pictured above), who presented the awards alongside CEDA Chairman Jack Sharkey, commented: “We are delighted to recognise such worthy winners, companies and individuals who have made such an enormous effort and contribution to the success of Cedabond over the last year. It is only by working closely with such dedicated partners that we can achieve our goals and for that we thank them all. We look forward to nurturing our existing relationships while forging new ones in the year to come, putting us in an even stronger position for the benefit of all our members.”
