Since being recognized as Latin America’s Best Female Chef in 2014 the chef-owner of Rosetta in Mexico City has grown to become one of the most important players on the country’s gastronomy scene.
Rosetta, located in an elegant mansion house, opened in 2010 serving refined versions of Mexican dishes cooking with seasonal and local ingredients.
A passionate proponent for biodiversity and sustainable production, she has recently launched a female-focused scholarship programme as a way to promote greater gender parity in kitchens – the Beca Elena Reygadas scholarship will champion equal opportunities.
“I’m very grateful and honoured to have been awarded by people I admire so much. Cooking is a communal practice. And so, for me, this award belongs to my entire team, as well as to all the women in the kitchen who have preserved our culinary legacy for generations,” said Reygadas.
Rosetta placed at No.60 on The World’s 50 Best restaurants 2022 list and sits in 37th position on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022. She has made a name for herself with specialities including of exquisite hand-made pastas – such as the hoja santa tortelinni – to pistachio pipián and romeritos taco, and the fresh corn tamal serviced with warm smoked cream.
